What causes feather picking?

So far Gilli has been doing well! But yesterday I noticed a little spot on his wing where there's no feathers, and it wasn't like that before. Not sure what can cause a bird to pick its feathers. My uncle stayed in the room with the bird this weekend while he was in town, so maybe Gilli got stressed?

Could you post a photo of the spot on Gilligan's wing? Is Gilligan molting? Or maybe he just rubbed his wing while playing?

After getting a closer look, I believe he is molting. It's hard to tell because he still doesn't want me to get too close. He's doing better but we're still working on our relationship
