Very very uncontrollably extremely excited!

I want one! :D What a strikingly amazing color contrast from our white 'Toos..absolutely gorgeous.

Wow, she's absolutely magnificent! Is she about the size of an M2? Hilarious looking little friend there!

Do they get that big?! M2 sized. I always thought they were slightly smaller than a U2... Having never actually seen one in person, I honestly have no way to judge.

The expression on that "poofy pinkie" is pretty priceless... "I'm feeling short next to you, so I'm gonna poof myself up really big. See, I'm as big as you now... no, really, I'm big too!" (Just as long as I don't exhale.)

Crazy beautiful! I could/would just stare at her all day. Thanks for the update!

I think you're going to be having a blast with this beautiful, beautiful baby! I can't believe how quickly she's grown: she looks like a giant compared to poor Pinky, who seems overwhelmed by the size of her toddler companion. LOL! The expression on Pinky's face is priceless. :D

I hope you'll keep us informed of Ash's progress once she arrives. Even here in Oz, the Black Cockies aren't as obvious as the White ones and I always post when I see one because it's something to write home about. Baby Ash is lucky to have a loving friend in you and we'll all enjoy being her aunties and uncles.

PS. I saw a small flock of Black Cockies in Maitland last weekend. I was at a wedding and while everyone else was peppering the bride and groom with flowers, I was stumbling along watching the cockies as they flew over the churchyard. :)

She is gorgeous!! Congratulations!! ;)

Thank you everyone :D

I actually have never seen a Moluccan or umbrella cockatoo, so I'm afraid I can't compare!
Once she comes home to me I'll have TONS of photos of me holding her for comparison :p

I do that EVERY time I see them in the wild! We only get yellow-tails around here, but they fly and sound so different to all the other birds, they're so cool to watch.

Wow, stunning. The wait until November would just about kill me...worse than waiting for Christmas!

I like your priorities, Trish!! ;):)

Yes, we only get Yellow Tails as well - but they're still lovely. Oh, hang on - we get Glossies as well (do you get those?) In fact, it's easy enough to find Glossies if you're prepared to go where they are. I've seen lots up at Barrington Tops National Park and even closer to home. Anywhere where there's lots of she-oaks growing will usually have a resident crew of Glossy Black Cockies. You can hear them from far away because they make such a racket cracking the she-oak cones. :)

Watching the Yellow Tails flying among tall Mountain Ash forest is almost a spiritual experience for me. They remind me of lost souls, looking for somewhere safe. LOL! Of course, the plaintive cry adds to the effect as well.

Like you, I've never seen a Moluccan or an Umbrella Cockatoo, but I'd imagine our black species would probably be as long, but not weigh as much. Their body shape is way different from the white cockies. Mind you, I've never seen a RTB in the flesh either (poor me!!!), although my husband's uncle has a pair of Palm Cockatoos and they're quite big and gorgeous! :)

Thank you, dear! Weddings are a bit ho-hum after all: I've yet to attend one that was as much fun as my own. Watching birds, however, always keeps me on me toes. ;)

Gah! I don't know why some of the older photos have disappeared :(

Here's a pretty blurry new photo, as a size reference! (If you know how big eclectuses are)

Yep. That is, officially, a whole lot of bird! Hahaha!

Aha! Judging by the Ekkies' colours, I'd be forgiven for thinking you were a Newcastle Knights supporter? ;)

I cried at my wedding... BUT, they made me go through with it anyway. :p

Shoulda worn track shoes that day!

So, Ash looks to be about the size of a standard large macaw, minus the oversized beak and long tail feathers. She looks to be bigger than Sweepea body wise... Around B&G body sized, I'm guessing.

Those tail feathers are stunning!

And she probably isn't even done growing! Big girl. And beautiful.

Well, I have played with a black palm, and that bird is large macaw sized, and actually, behaviorally, acts a lot more like a macaw that a too in many respects...

I'm wondering if those characteristics are more prevalent in the black toos?

Other than the one BP2, I've never really been around any, so I'm very curious.

Wow, Ash is beyond stunning! I think we need to invent new adjectives to describe the beauty!!
