Question has anyone put a magnetic vent cover over their vents? My one room gets too hot and the whole house is cold so I can't turn the heater on. Just trying to find a way to keep the house warm without hurting the birds in the bird room. My roommate wants to turn the heater on. Help please. :)

The 'magnetic vent cover' are a great way to reduce heat entering a specific room.

But first take a long look at the vent as they commonly have a devise that by shifting it will open open or close them from full open all the way to full closed. The adjustable vents are very commonly and near every Heating Cooling Contractor has them. Also Hardware stores commonly have them as well. Note: the size of the opening is very important.

If you elect to use the 'magnetic vent cover' do not fully cover the vent as you will want some air flow into the room.

NOTE: It is very possible that you may find that in the other rooms, that the vents are closed.

Thanks for replying !!!!!🤗. I just replaced my vent but it still lets in heat. My room gets really warm with the computer in it. We open the window at night to let air in when there aren't fire places going. Here's what updated too.

Should I just let some heat in? I just don't want it to get too hot for them.
Thanks!!!

They still produce vent covers? COOL! I grew up with them and loved them to bits!

To answer your question (s): You can let some heat in. It shouldn't get too hot with part of the vent covered.

What are you running a server? A standard tower should not be creating that much heat, especially one that over-heats a room.

Before opening a window, consider a 'box' fan on low to remover the hear from that room to other rooms in the house. Heat this time of year is expensive.

Enjoy!
