Update on Momo CAG

By any chance, the leg with the swelling, is there a band on there that might be constricting it?

no band at all

doing much better today i think i have continue medication for one more day and it will be good as nothing happened

and i have found the reason ... momo was chewing the same wooden perch on which was and that happen to break and momo fell ... thats what i feel because momo was doing the same thing today on new perch

hello all

momo is having this habit now... she is chewing her perch even though she has chewing wood toys in her cage

and i noticed one more thing in the evening when i am in my room she turns her back to me and whistle and whisper .... i am noticing this thing from couple of days then i though i should ask from all of you.

Kawie chews up his perches too. He didnt do it for the first 3 months we had him, then all of a sudden he started chewing them up. He doesn't touch his wood toys, just the perches. But we use natural wood branches anyway so we can replace them as he chews them up. She might be whistling and whispering to get your attention and play a game with you.

i am also using natural wood as a perch ... might be natural wood is more tempting than wooden toys

regarding whistling ... when i whistle back she stops...

Hey glad she is doing better!

My CAG loves to chew on her perches too! Do you have an extra cardboard box you can put at the bottom of the cage? Chloe LOVES going inside her box and chewing it all up. That can really help if she gets bored, my girl likes to trim her feather too because she was unhappy in her old home but she is growing them back!!

Yes Kawie LOVES cardboard as well! LOVES it!

I think Momo is playing with you with the whistling... Use it to your advantage see if you can play a game such as whistling from another room and see if she whistles back etc. Kawie whistles when I am not in the room and others are ignoring him. If I am in the kitchen cooking where he cant see me he will whistle. When I do it back he will either repeat it or change the whistle and I will mimic it.

momo my darling is good and bit angry with me ... as i was unavailable for the whole day so she was showing me some attitude

one more thing i offer her harrisons power treat as a treat ... but she take it from my hand and then throw it away or sometimes break it apart ... i have never seen her eating any of it

Kawie will take stuff from my hand and throw it down sometimes when I offer him treats, but if I pick it up and put it in his bowl he will eat it. It depends on if it is what he wants at that time.

past few days she is chewing wood and making toothpicks ...

we are even nicking her name to carpenter momo.

in past few days she had chewed like three perches

Nope, your not missing anything. She has found her toys~! It will keep her beak in great shape. Have you tried a cardboard box yet? I throw that in the mix so that I have more time to find new wood perches.
