- My first bird was a parakeet named Buddy (passed away November 8, 2012). My newest friend is a parakeet named Chipper.
Hi Everyone. Happy New Year.
As far as I can tell, Chipper is over his illness and he's doing great. His nose is clear, and hasn't been stuffed up or running. And his droppings look completely normal. I took him to the vet everyday for antibiotics, for 10 days. Everyone at the vet office was really nice and helpful. I paid for the initial visit, but they didn't charge me anything to give him the medicine everyday. They even weighed him every other day, to be sure he wasn't losing weight. His weight stayed the same, 36 grams. He's eating well and drinking water, and he's been climbing around his cage a lot and playing with his toys. Once in a while he sneezes, but it's a dry sneeze. I haven't seen his nose running anymore.
In fact, he's getting a little obnoxious! He plays around in his food bowl and sometimes tries to knock it over! Right now, he's hanging upside down and playing with one of his toys!
