- A crossover Quaker Scuti (F), A Sun conure named AC, A Cinnamon Green Cheek conure Kent, and 5 budgies, yellow (m), clark Jr. (m), Dot (f), Zebra(f), Machine (m).
So some Romeo of one "clan/flock" seduced two sisters of a different flock at once. I buy these houses on amazon but the holes are so wide any bird can get in and I kept getting fights of big birds not letting the little budgies have a space. A buddy had some sheet metal so I machined it to make it big parrot proof. As such they felt safe enough, and.....had sex. Called the vet. Vet talked to receptionist that said if you want more budgies the just leave them alone the birds know what they are doing. Then explained to me what I have done before with getting rid of unfertilized unwanted eggs waiting 21 days removing one at a time etc. By the way 1 and 3/8 inch is the perfect budgie hole.
I'll point out the father is puking in both their mouths so good dad there.
I don't know what's going to happen or maybe the eggs aren't fertilized or what. The two female budgies are guarding their houses like it Fort Knox now that the big birds can't come in.
If they hatch I do have an extra cage and can bring them upstairs and put the families there until the babies can evade and protect themselves. When the budgies are out they are never attacked, but I think the big birds ...I don't know they smell the eggs and want them in the short term. But the bigger parrots are monitoring like crazy though. They like to watch like it day time drama TV.
I do have formula but the vet said don't worry about it and don't take time off, they know what they are doing which makes sense of course.
So may have new budgie babies as a result of not interfering. I'm just going to give it up to nature and if they hatch I'll give them a safe space for a bit in an empty bedroom then re-introduce.
Question 1: if I bring the houses and spare cage up will one sister try to kill the other sisters budgies? Or will they get along?
Question 2: Once bourn can I put them in the Tupperware bin like you see on videos and they all get along or will one sister try to kill the offspring of the other.
Question 3: If I pull out the chicks and hand feed them with formula to better bond, will the parents be ok or furious, they let me handle them but mostly only in distress, a like ok "yeah I need help" but prefer independence. They land on keyboard and don't fear me, if anything they would "probably" be on me all the time but my conures a Sun and a GCC kind of claim me I think it has to do more with them than a fear of me.
Question 4 : Is this even a good idea?
Question 5: Is it safe to introduce the babies before they can fly and escape? Now I said above that the large parrots don't attack the budgies but they were around when I introduced, and they were ALL babies, would bringing more young birds in destroy the alliance they all have? as far as the new ones.
Thank you for your time.
