Trick teaching?

Yeah...now like I said if I wave my hand around behind him for any reason....not even commanding a trick, he's doing it. :) then he bobs his head real fast because he's waiting for that treat! Lol I'll make a video tomorrow so you can see. Literally he got it down pat in 10 mins.

Aww he seems so adorable! My GCCs bob up and down for a treat too. ;)

Just started :) got him spinning on command. Took maybe 10-15 repetitions and only 10 minutes or so to learn!

Yep! Chichis only problem is he won't do it on my right hand. Only on my left, since that's the hand I taught it to him on!! Congrats! Did you do it the way I posted? Or was it a different technique?

potty trained my conure in one day! everytime she went potty i said "good potty" and rewarded her..now the poor thing holds her potty until we get home.. but other than that, shes still new to me so nothing else yet

That's awesome. When I got chichi they sent him home with me with 2 flight suits and cut up panty liners with the sticky on them to stick inside the suits. I must say its an amazing thing, because since he spends so much time hangin on my shoulder I have poop on my shirt every single day. Potty training is such a great idea!! I might look into this. The lil suits just seem silly lol

I heard that it is very bad for parrots to hold their poo and hold it in just for praise frome their owner. Not very sure how true this is, haven't potty trained any of my birds, but have heard of it on various books and sites. That's why I'm hesitant about potty training incase they start holding it just for praise... Again, not sure how true it is, but just wanted to throw it out there... Sorry if I come off as rude. :)

You aren't rude. You're informative. We're all here to learn what's best and of you've heard something we haven't, by all means chime in!! I'm looking it up now to see what's can find. I'm not too interested but I also have seen it. In videos and such. I just posted a thread about the flight suits tho. I think that's what I'm going to do of I get good feedback on them.

Thank you. I just wanted to say that I wasn't being rude because on other forums I was called rude when someone asked about potty training. =)

If you're asking for advice, or on a topic to be informed about, don't get mad when pele give a response you don't agree with. Just simply disagree and move on. After all it's YOUR bird. Sorry, just who I am.

But it does look like that making them hold it in isn't a good idea. I'll use the flight suit. :)

Ya I'm taking my chances with the flight suit too. :) Just out of pure curiosity, what colors are yours? Lol I'm just wondering. I ordered red stars and lime green. :p

The ones that I got from his previous owner are like shiny red and shiny yellow. But if they work out I'm defiantly ordering him this one!! A bit pricey at $25 but how cute is that??!! It even has the tux tails!! Omg...who knew these even existed?! Haha.

i completely agree. i stopped rewarding it..but she still holds it. so i started putting a ladder perch from inside of her cage against a tree etc and now she potties while on the ladder during trips. kinda fixed the problem but not really

Lucy is potted trained to go in the trash when we bring her there and tell her to go poop. She does not hold it in though. We clean the cage every week and it's very evident she's still going, plus when she is out and flys around, she has this thing about hitting the ground, doing the moonwalk and drops little ones
