I made a T stand using an old tripod, a PVC pipe, and a wooden dowel... it was nice but now it's a little dilapidated. Anyone have any good ideas for a training T-Stand who isn't a master carpenter like myself? T-Stands are way over-priced.

I used to make them completely out of pvc piping. I wish I had my scanner here so I could just draw up a little diagram but I don't so I will do my best to explain. Make a rectangular or square base, it will take 8 pieces of pipe, four elbow connectors and 3 "T" connectors and then make the perch, it will take 1 T connector and 3 pieces of pipe. I just realized there is no way to know what I'm talking about right now so I will attempt to draw something up on my computer and post it in a minute :) It makes a really neat stand and they are collapsible to store

Ok, please keep in mind that I did this really quick and we're just gonna pretend everything is the right size :) Here's a quick little diagram I made of how I made mine.
Here's the base:

And here's the perch from a side view:

The entire thing is made of pvc, no glue or anything. If you don't want the stand to be collapsible, just use a non toxic glue and glue the center connector of the base in. I have never had a bird collapse one from their weight yet but if if you have a very heavy bird, like a macaw or big 'zon, you may want to glue it just to be safe.

Thank you so much ladies. And thank you Icywolf for so much Info! I really appreciate the effort you put into replying to my post. Before I read this I went to lowe's and got some dowel rods and pvc pipe. I'll have to save these plans and on my next trip pick up some new stuff!
