Hi everyone can I start buy wishing everyone a happy new year and thank you for allowing me to join the forum.
I have just become the owner of a 12 year old believed to be female rosella parrot.
My friends fathers bird who has had to give her up as he is poorly.
Her name is Cola and she has a lot of her front plumage missing.
I am also not sure if she should have some kind of lighting in her cage.
Any suggestions would be great thank you x

Sounds like she may be plucking, which can be a hard behavior to discourage. If you can add a picture, it would help some of the more knowledgable members identify a possible plucking issue. Plus many of us enjoy seeing picture of other peoples birds. I would try doing a search her on the forum for plucking and lighting. I would be shocked if there was not a thread or two with people's opinions and advice on both.
Also have you looked into taking her to a vet for a wellness check up? That would be best course of action to see if there is an underlying health issue.

Hello and welcome! A picture of her would definitely be of help, but it does sound like plucking. Giving her lots of attention, toys and a healthy diet may help some with that, but I know it is a hard habit to break. It's wonderful that you took her in!
