are hybrid macaws ethical?

Hello, im looking for some insight from macaw owners/ enthusiasts that could tell me their opinion on hybrid macaws, i have owned a range of birds in the past and would characterise myself as an experienced owner looking to step up the game most likely with a blue and gold macaw. Yesterday someone said "get a Catalina, there cute." i had never really thought of hybrids in the past until now. Can they even be ethically bred? im a huge dog person so for me mixes bred for certain traits are a no go but was wondering if it was the same with parrots?
i would imagine at the least they would be unpredictable, with increased health risk: but would really appreciate if someone could educate me.

I dunno, are designer dogs ethical? THis is more of a personal question, for each prospective owner. Read up on the Macaw sub forum, stuff by birdman666, he touches on hybrids.

My opinion...
not many people say that but it's not like hybrids are fully "made" by humans - there are evidences of wild hybrids (eg ruby macaws). So I wouldn't say it's fully not ethical.

But when it comes to the captive ones... I'm fine with the ones bred accidentally, but most of them aren't accidental... in general I'm against not accidental breeding but answering your questions if they are ethical... I'm not sure what to think about the simple ones like harlequin or Catalina... but the more "complicated" ones (crossing less related species like milicinth, or next generations like tropicana macaw)... maybe they aren't ethical... but that's what I think about it

thank you for the response! yea im not so sure either.... i think it kind of crosses what you think is morally right for the animal, but personally i think i will stay with the purebred species
