So both hubby and I were at work today. I get home first and the first thing that I notice is the house is like Bundii has 'exploded'. There are feathers everywhere. I must tell you first that Bundii is currently and still moulting. I have never seen this many feathers..........

So after collecting all of the feathers from the ground and putting them in my feather container, I decided to change the cage lining. After collecting the many feathers that are in the bottom tray, I notice that one of her longest tail feathers has come out. OMG I will soon be the proud mamma of a duck butt :D

I just love my little bird but she is so cute with her duck butt. It just looks so wrong after seeing her with a long tail for most of the year. :).

So after calling dadda and telling him the news, I change the paper. As I am at the kitchen counter putting the new paper in the tray, Bundii decides that she must take a bath immediately. Cannot wait until I have the tray back to catch the water... Oh no that would be too easy

Now Bundii usually bathes only in her water dishes. She does not like the hose much and never really gotten into the sprayer. So I continue to vacuum as she is bathing. I decide to try the spray bottle just in case she has changed her mind. Today is the day that she decides that she 'loves' the spray bottle. Not just misted from above her but sprayed directly at her (on the mist setting though). I turned the vacuum off and she stops bathing. I start it again and she starts bathing. So with the vac still running, I continue to spray her with water. We went through a whole spray bottle.

Of course this now means that I have to mop the floor as well as wipe the chairs, table and wall where she has had her bath. But as long as her majesty has bathed, then peace is restored to this house.

Sorry for the long story but it has been a day of milestones for my bubba.:D

Michelle once it is a full duck butt (both feathers gone), I will put up a pic. :)

Awwww! Dear little Bundii! There's something about Alexes and their bathing habits that I find so darned cute - I can just picture Bundii dancing about in the mist spray while you wet your house all over, Amanda. LOLOL! D'you know why I can picture that? :D

There's also nothing quite as sweet as a little green duck butt, is there? :)

Not sure why you could picture that Trish.......

I imagine that the two gorgeous green featherbutts that you have might have something to do with it. But I am only guessing here.

I really do love the duck butts. Hubby was like "see you tonight duck butt" to Bundii before he went to work this morning. I am sure she will end up with a complex........

So the other tail feather came out yesterday. I will try to get a pic tomorrow of my now shorter Alex.

Both tail feathers measured 34cms. Pretty proud mumma. :)

I can't wait to see pictures of that cute butt! And I just realized that I have never typed those words before..lol.
What are you going to do with the feathers?

Terry I am not sure what will do with them. I have a rather large collection from her previous moults so I will add Ito it. I have to think of some thing to do with them though. There is a thread on here of what others have done with their fids feathers. So I will go looky. I have been collect almost every feather this time just to get an idea on how many she actually loses. I will take a pic later and post.

Still in bed....hubby has gone to work and it is Sunday. So I decided that 5.30am was too early to get up on. Sunday.

Definitely too early to get up! I loved that thread about what all people have done with the feathers..I have been saving and have a half a drawer full:) Waiting now for my Bourkes to molt so I have some pretty pink ones to add to the collection!

I used to collect them but I've been throwing them away now days. I only keep the macaws long tail feathers.
