This is where the fun begins!

Yes, I’ll do that. I just fed him and he’s still got a small amount stuck to his rear end. I’ll bring him in the bathroom with the shower running for that, so he doesn’t catch a chill.

Took a lot of feeding this time. Then fell asleep immediately. Was afraid that he aspirated and croaked, but whew! Just sleeping. Scary. My goodness this is intense!

He opens his mouth wide for feeding now. Having him wrapped in a baby washcloth is good for wiping the dribbles as I get the rhythm down. The formula cools down so quickly during feeding. It’s not easy to be sure he’s not being offered a bubble at the tip of the syringe, even though I’ve cleared the syringe of air.

Momma joined him in the nest right away after I fed him, and didn’t complain while I fed him. Just a few calling chirps from her at that time, as she exited the nest box when I took him out. Baby’s few chirps during feeding sounded strong.

This is a lot of work, and stress. What miracles these little creatures are that survive!
You can do it! If I can you can! All sounds great. As long as he eats. Falling asleep right after eating is totally normal. All they do is chrip eat and sleep. And poop. And grow!

To keep the formula warm mix it in a small f container and float the small one in a larger container of warmer water, temp about 110 degrees.

My precious baby budgie, Rocky, from Hatch Day to today at three months old! Raising Rocky was the most amazing experience of my life and I love him dearly! It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. He ate heartily from his first feeding! I had no choice but to incubate his egg and raise him myself because his Mama has a medical emergency and had to be hospitalized so I put her three eggs in an incubator the day after Rocky's egg was laid. Her other two eggs stopped developing but 18 days later, much to my astonishment, Rocky began to peep from inside his egg, and eight hours later he had hatched! I began round the clock feedings six-eight hours later and he grew very quickly. Rocky's all grown up now but he will always be my precious baby bird!
