Some of you know that I love gardening and growing orchids. WELL! For the past 2 years I've been pampering this particular Cattleya (an Orchid from Hawaii), in hopes I'd get her to bloom for me.

About 1 month ago she was developing a bloom, and I was SO excited, only to knock the bud off during watering. :( I was SO sad and upset. BUT, it looks like she forgave me instantly because THIS is what I was rewarded with after ALL this time:

The entire downstairs smells HEAVENLY!!!!! And yes, it was worth the efforts. ;)

Congratulations Wendy! :D Does it really smell that good? :O

Very beautiful! Congrats on your green thumb!

Thanks so much Sonja! Believe me, some of my friends thought/think I'm "not all together" for making SUCH a big deal over this....but it makes me incredibly happy. :)

Nope. It smells even BETTER than "that good." No kidding! :) I was able to smell it this morning when it was still dark, BEFORE I could finally admire the single bloom.

Congrats Wendy:) I can fully relate to how excited you were as I am a very keen gardener too! I am just itching for the spring to come, so I can get out there again:)

Beautiful Orchid.

Beautiful Orchid.

Thank you so very much, Wendy! I, too, am counting the days until spring. My absolute FAVORITE time of the year, when all plants awaken. ;)

Ok, so for this one I ONLY had to wait a year...but nonetheless, I'm quite thrilled that she rebloomed for me. And not only on one...but on 3 (!!!) stems. This is from Stem #1 (regular Phalaenopsis = moth orchid) :)

Oh, very pretty, and I totally know that excitement. I'm an orchid grower, too. Congrats on your lovely Catt!

Beautiful ! Why can't people with birds have bird safe flowers ? I have to use orange peeling to make our house not smell like bird food...
