Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)
But I really do love Toucan personalities...

I'd never get one, (at least not without a huge yard and an outdoor flight.) Too much work. VERY diet sensitive. BUT... they sure are fun to play with!

I think toucans are beautiful birds. I'd also never own one (shoots poop? NOT for me! The abominations amazons produce is more than enough bird poo for me to contend with:p).

My parents said they considered a toucan as their first bird, but after they found out about the diet and mess and aviary they went with Barney the amazon instead. Probably a wise choice.

A friend of mine in NorCal breeds Tocos. So I got a chance to play with them, WITHOUT having to deal with their stuff...

They need an outdoor flight. They are too hyper to really be indoor birds. They hop around so much that nothing short of a flight cage would do it for them.

And then there's the diet sensitivity, expense of the diet, and the mess issues...

The mess isn't bad, if you have an outdoor flight you can hose down. Just turn the water on, and spray it down once a day, then switch to the mister setting and give them a bath while you're at it...

WITHOUT THE ABILILTY TO DO THAT?! EEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWW!!!
