The new house is ready for them, i have left them in their old cages for over a week with them able to see their new house so that they can explore if they wanted. so yesterday i put them in, they squawked non stop, it’s now night time and they keep shouting, in the end i covered them up as i usually do when it’s time for bed, but i had to revert to covering them early. What can i do, or will this just take time. i put some of their old toys in to help with the process of moving and help them adapt to their new accommodation.

I hope that metal isn't zinc coated which is toxic to birds.

Birds like light. It could be this is too dark. Is the top solid wood?

It is nice and roomy tho! And I'm sure they will start to feel comfortable in their new space

i would recomand puting something at the bottom if its even only one perch
give them time :)

Time. Also, caiques love to play on the ground so yeah put toys and footie stuff for them to play with on the floor. Serious warning about the mesh you used. If its zinc coated ( called galvanized) that is bad as zinc is a heavy metal and if they ingest any it is deadly. Parrots often use they beaks to get around inside cages so this is a real concern.

yes, over time tge toxic metal buils up in them if that metal isn't safe it can make them sick just buy using the beak to get around, tgey don't even have to chew it

This is normal and will just take time. I have heard from a few paronts that new cage, new color, always get resistance of some sort.....

....trembling body
.....refusing to go in
...big shout
......wanting to come out
.....not sleeping on the provided perch

But all this go away with time.
You did well to put favorite toys and familiar water cups in.

Keep us posted how long it takes, won't you?

Thank you for all your comments, they are now happy and are jumping to each perch. i will add more perches lower down also . This wire was recommended for aviary use, we have the same wire in their outdoor aviary which has been there for many years. They are now playing with their toys and not shouting at me. 😀
