Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(
And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
… A lot of folks here have seen my posts mentioning "Uncle Joe". Joe was my best friend for nearly twenty years. He passed away this afternoon from many ailments. Not only had Joe had quad by-pass many years back, but also COPD,diabetes,Afib, diabetic nerve pain..the list goes on.
My fids LOVED "Uncle Joe". Especially Smokey. When Joe would come over to play cards,we'd sit at the kitchen table, with Smokey joining us many times, and she would run/waddle across the kitchen table to climb his arm and sit on his shoulder( I had posted a pic of that quite awhile back and can't find it in my files anymore ) to pull on his hair or nibble his ear and regurg on him ( Joe thought that was pretty icky lol) and "woo" in his ear.
When the Beebs was younger,as soon as he saw Joe,he'd fly to his shoulder and relentlessly wolf whistle to him,and bend his head asking for skritches.
I lived about thirty seconds by car from him. When I used to drive Big Rig and found out I wasn't going to be home that night, all I had to do was call Joe and he'd come to the house and feed and water Amy and Smokes for me. He'd turn on the tv and sit for an hour or so and let the fids out of their houses. He NEVER had a problem getting them to go back in.
Joe was a little intimidated by Amy lol. He really never tried to handle him. One time he came with me when I had to bring Amy to see his doc and Joe was holding Amys perch stick with Amy on it. Amy was just sitting there, more interested in looking out the window, but the look on Joes face..like.."Ummmm...what do I do now???" lol
A few years back,I was on the road trying to make it home in a blizzard. The snow had really piled up by the time I got back into CT and I was really afraid I wouldn't even be able to get into my driveway. Joe paid his plow guy to go do mine after he was done with his driveway,Thats the kind of guy Joe was.
As I type this, tears are rolling down my face. I will miss him dearly.
I love you Joe and will never forget you. R.I.P. brother.
