The official horse thread.

Beautiful horses !!! I have a 9 year old Thoroughbred gelding. He is an ex-racer and he is a handful. We dabble in dressage a little bit, nothing real fancy yet as he is still going through his retraining. Making him forget what he was bred to do is not an easy task. I am a shorty so he looks pretty large in the pics. He is 16.1 - 16.2.

Here is my boy, Falcon Scott.

Oh I am so jealous of everybody and their horses! I love horses! I used to ride all the time! My parents always swore I'd "out grow" horses and refused to buy/lease a horse for me. I rode constantly as a kid and rode at least once or twice a week (If i was allowed I would've never left the barn lol) until I was 16 almost 17. My priorities changed at that point. I had to start working in order to afford my car and go to school. The last time I went riding was when I was 18 and was in Las Vegas with my mother. We went on a trail ride type deal out in the desert. Oh it was so beautiful! I hardly have time for anything other than work, school, and regular daily chores (birds, cats, house, etc.) I cannot wait until I am done with school! 4 more semesters and I will FINALLY have my degree.

I hope to have my own horse one day. It's been a dream of mine from the time I was probably 8 or 9. Never mind, let me rephrase that. I WILL have a horse of my own one day! Nothing is going to stop me!!!! I don't care if it takes me until I'm 90. I will have my own horse! Until then I'll just drool over the pictures of your horses.

Oh OH!! Me TOO!! I have a 6 year old Anglo-Arabian Gelding named Oz. He is my "Dude." I have been riding since I was a boop, and he is my dream horse. We do English, Western, dressage, light jumping, and are working towards endurance racing sometime in the distant future. I adore him.

I just saw that some lucky forum member got their hands on a Palisades Appaloosa, I almost bought Cash, one of her 2008 foals. Instead I bought my Ozzy boy as a two year old from an Arabian breeder in over her head a few towns over. You are SOOOO lucky, Palisades has THE most beautiful horses on the planet!

BEAUTIFUL horses, everyone!!!!!

The following pictures are DECADES old. I started riding when I was 6 (back in Germany). When I was 13 my father bought me the horse of my dreams, "Blues", and together we weekly did competetive dressage & jumping.

Blues was the first love of my life...I will never, for as long as I live, forget him. :)

I do have to get my butt in the saddle again soon ;)

Count me in. I think there are many horse/bird people out there. I meet many of them when we take our macaw to horseshows. We have racing quarter horse breeding stock but I make my living sculpting them so I am posting pictures of the last two I finished both installed at Kentucky farms in December. This one is the great sire Distorted Humor tb. Done for WinStar Farm in Versailles, Ky.

This is my horse Bertie. I've had him since he was three and a half. He is 17 now. We do light hacking and a bit of schooling. He was diagnosed with bone spavin and kissing spine last week :( Hopefully with the treatment he is getting we will be able to ride again. I don't have kids, Bertie is my baby. He is so laid back and such a softie.
