Parrots
Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
...last night the kids were out. BB with me and Amy with David. It was time for bed so I put Beebs in his condo and cover him over. Amy is on his roof while David tries to make nice and give skritches. So I figure when he is done he'll tell Amy to go to bed and then cover his mansion. Ten minutes go by and David comes to me and says "The bird is lost"...I'm like :confused: "what do you mean the bird is lost??" He says "I turned away for a minute and he's gone...lost" Where/how can a big flightless green dino be lost? I go out to the living room..nope..no Amy in his house..no Amy on his playpen...no Amy wandering the kitchen..no Amy under his house...then I see green rudders poking out from UNDER BB's cover! I pulled of the cover and there is the Doofasaurus trying to swoon BB. I told David when Amy is on a mission he's greased lightning.

Oh jeez.... my heart froze when I just read the title!!! I was breathless as I read your post thinking, "No... please don't be lost!!!"

So I'm glad it was just mischief. :D

I was so scared to read this! SO happy everything turned out alright!

Nearly had me as well Jim! But I figured if you posted under Amazon it must be a story not a tragedy. So glad that was the outcome. Amy, you cheeky monster!

Troublemaker ....so glad that “lost” was “on a mission” :)

A missed photo op here if you ask me!

Amy really loves BB doesn’t he?

Oh geez, Jim! This made my heart stop! Not Amy!!! And then it made me laugh out loud. Thanks, friend!

Hahahaha, Amazon in stealth mode! Baxter is fully flighted, but rarely flies. Periodically I find her walking the floor, looking for me. Never hear a thing until she's right next to me. They are foolish sometimes :)

OMG I was laughing so hard. I knew he couldn't really be lost or you would be hysterical!

When I had my OWA Rocky and my BFA Sam in a small apartment in Brooklyn years ago, we had a small earthquake in the middle of the night. I woke up and went into the living room and there were no birds anywhere. I ran around looking for them, when I heard some peeps. There they were on the window sill. However, they had both gotten through the blinds and curtains to get there. To this day, I still don't know how they got through mini blinds! LOL

They get in some really weird places when sufficiently frightened. Years ago my moms GCA got spooked by something, took off (he wasn’t the world best flier) and when she went to find him, he was gone. It took her some time to locate him. He was stuck behind the dryer, in the dark, covered in dust and too terrified to move. Poor old guy.

Oh my goodness, my heart skipped a beat when I read this post! Thank God Amy is okay. I also have 2 GCC. My husband had his leg amputated in March so doesn't move really fast. And, I have let all 3 monsters' wings grow out, although SassyByrd is taking FOREVER for some reason. Anyhow, JoJoByrd flew out the door 2 weeks ago, yep right outside. She first flew into a small tree by the side of the house. They were not trained to fly to us or even step up, although they are out all day perched on my body or computer monitor. So the first attempted snatch resulted in most of her tail missing. Then she made her way to a neighbors tree. I approached her slowly with a bowl of sunflower seeds and managed to snatch her after about 15 minutes. She bit the crap out of me the whole way back to the house resulting in very deep hand wounds and bruising. You can bet for the last two weeks we have been working on "come" and "step up". They will now fly directly to a stick or my arm and are still learning step up! I cried the entire time she was out!

Congratulations Jim! Now that everyone has their heart back down to a near rested state and a smile on our faces, as knowledge that Amy was okay comforts.

Amazon disappearing act is far to common in our home. No one gets nuts until the vast number of his stuff hiding places are checked, followed by checking under all the chairs all while contact calling him. Thank goodness that he enjoys responding to contact calls.
Way too go Amy! Nothing like an Amazon to verify if everyone's hearts are functioning!

Gave us a real scare. As I was reading those first few lines I felt the way I would if a cop had just thrown the blue lights on behind me! DANG!
