Parrots
Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
..all of a sudden in the last few day's, BB has taken flight. He used to do a lot of walking or quick hop's and a flap flap. Lately however he has been actually FLYING  from his roof top to me on the couch or from the counter top to my HEAD. Last night he took off from my shoulder in the kitchen, flew in a circle and HOVERED for a few seconds, only to land, with percision,on my hand.

I guess after nearly two years,he finally discovered his arms

maybe Amy can take some notes from the star pupil of "Jim's flight school"

Go BB! Now he'll be teaching Amy how to hover and land on your head:D

Thats great news.
now you need to come up with frequent flyer rewards for BB.

BB flies and gets an upgrade to First Class!!

Amy had better be nice or he'll drop little "bombs" of pens, and other small objects!

Tonight he was back at it. He was on his roof top while I'm on the couch about 12 feet away. I said to him "c'mon BB c'mon"..and he repeats c'mon...c'mon..and he squats a little and stands back up..and squats again ( like he's thinking about it lol) and I keep it up with c'mon c'mon..and he did! Right on my shoulder..no crashing into me head or face...like he's been doing it for years.
NOW when he is on my shoulder he climbs the back of my neck to get on my head:52:
He has flown from his digs to Amy's play top..I'm getting nervous about that. Even though Amy has never shown any aggression toward Beebs,he does get all poofy and a flared tail...excited.
Seems like he is really checking out his new found ability..just took off from my shoulder and flew from this room into the living room and landed on top of my tv...a good thirty feet away.
I'm really wondering how,all of a sudden,he decided to do this flapflap thing, and how he learned to be so good at it..
Whst's he been doing behind my back?:rolleyes:

I like that - Jim's Flight School. Next BB will be dive bombing your dinner plate!

Congrats on your flight, BB!

So gratifying to see them fly.

Now you gots to make all kinds of paranoia related changes, though ... toilet lids down, kitchen buttoned up. I've never had a bird that could bird like that ... is it a good idea to have big obvious perches in every room, so a new/tired/stressed flyer sees an easy landing spot as opposed to say, that pot of boiling water?

Welll...we are developing a "slight" problem here :02:
It seems, now that he realizes if he doesn't like/wanna be where he is.." All I gotta do is wave these thing's,and off I go!"

Yep...try to get him back in his house? "Not yet Dad!" Flapflapflap!
'Oh..Amy? you like to agro me and scare the beegeezus outta me? well guess what?? FLAPFLAPFLAP" to Amy's house,to walk/climb all about, while poor Amy is stuck in HIS house.

"Oh great! All I have to do is wave my arms frantically, and off I go,to land on top of the CHINA cabinet, where poppy can't reach me!"

OR..." I can go flapflap from Dad's hand, and crash-land into the trash bin in the kitchen, and yell my fool head off til Dad comes and rescue me!"

OR....sighhhhhh :33: :02:
