Jacob a sun conure who found me!
Don't remember who told me not to, but after more reading about it and realizing what it really can do to a bird I am so happy to get advised against it. I suspect that this guy is 1.5 -2 years, he is more social than your average Conure it seems like since he adapts to stranger in ten minutes. He seems fairly comfortable outside too, there were times today where he was relaxed in his body language and was picking on branches and leaves investigating. Im suspecting cause I was close by, he wasn't abandoned. However the fact that he came to me the first time doing mating behavior as I got him, and that he came back the second time to me as well (mind you only having him for three days). He also tries to talk, he says Hello and Im fairly sure Jacob. He's not as screamy as they can be, today I left him more in his cage and he was ok with that too. He actually played with his toys a little with no choice. He likes wood more than paper.. Ive read up on body language today so I can better comprehend him.. but the main thing I had no clue about was how wing clipping can affect a bird and how it can alter behaviors. I wouldn't wanna alter this guy by any means, and I don't believe in prongs to surpres a dog (Im all positive reinforcement, treats, clicker etc) so I wouldn't wanna cut a birds wings for my own lazyness. His harness is coming tomorrow, and we will start putting it on. Knowing him he will just accept it no biggie. He already rolls over for me and lays on his back on my chest.. He let me rub his belly ( he did that the first day, I just didn't know what a big deal it was).. I have been blessed with finding the dream sun conure with almost impeccable manners (except for landing in my mashed potatoes on and on my toast) how could I ever clip his wings when he's such an amazing bird..

However, without you guys I could have ruined him, if it wasn't for the info of understanding that they don't know about heights without training, I could have given up today instead of staying out there.. I am soooo grateful for everything that will make me a much better conure owner!

Also if new landlord don't approve of birdy I may just take my deposit back and find a new place.. I sorta don't wanna loose him now unless it's the owner stepping up. However him being so special I am seriously contemplating contacting news 12.. Someone has to miss him.. like really..
