COCKATIELS AND SUN CONURES DO MIX......at least around this crazy house!! The first pic is of Woody (female pied) checking out "The Boy's " cage and Rio trying to figure out what to do with an intruder to his man cave! The second pic is of Buzz (male whiteface) and Cosmo wondering how they both can tare up a fairly new toy together!

I love this - my cockatiel pretends that there are no other birds in the house (there are 5 others). I think that they have all tried to socialize with her at some point and she won’t even acknowledge that they are there :)

PEANUT AND HIS MOTHER WOODY.

It's pretty obvious to see where Peanut got his markings from! That's Woody in the background. Although any of the birds from our last clutch are way to young yet for breeding, we've noticed Peanut and Matilda sure seem to do a lot of hanging out together. There both beautiful birds, but brother and sister! That's the down side to keeping different sexes from the same clutch. :15:

A DEVELOPING BOND! I caught Peanut and Matilda playing around on top of her cage this after noon. It's rare when you can get either to sit still long enough for a decent photo! I think after a minute or two, they forgot I was even there!!! :59:

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:

Since it's pretty obvious many of you at least check this thread once in awhile, something came to mind as I was preparing 17 food and water bowels for the teils and suns. Have any of you ever had a day where you were just bummed for no certain reason? I mean in this day and age.....just turn on the T.V if you want a good dose of bad news and further depression! THEN I got to thinking....what's the ONE thing that brightens my day no matter how crappy it's been? Simple answer: Our birds!!! As I'm sure many of you already know (or have heard) this is suppose to be an exceptionally tuff winter ahead due to the pandemic and so many of us are simply worn down with anxiety. If you look at it like i did a few minutes ago, our little feathered friends just might be a BIG advantage to helping us cope with the coming months. In a strange twist of fate, THEY rely on us day in and day out for food, shelter, and water. NOW it may be there turn to help us thru a major crises that there not even aware of! I love these little animals with all my heart......no matter WHAT the situation is for me. I just hope that some of you will think about what I've written here and cherish your feathered buddies as much. :rainbow1:

I’m currently being a horrible bird mom and keeping Bumble up past bedtime for this very reason. She makes me smile. She stayed at my friend’s house for 9 days recently and it was AWFUL. I missed her desperately and realized how completely integrated into my life she has become.

I’m totally with you on this one - I’ve been having a very cruddy year and the birds are a little bit of sunshine in it :).

THE PERFECT TIEL.

Of the 13 we have, Woody ( a 2 year old hen and mother ) is the most well mannered bird to date. She never throws a fit like all the others and ALWAYS steps up. Yes, we still have issues with her and Kiwi wanting to mate again but we're just not ready for another clutch after the last. Once is awhile she will escape her cage and fly over to Kiwi's. She has never once refused to step up when I go over to get her! I just WISH I could say the same about her old man Kiwi! :D

I just noticed that my Screamer looks a lot like Woody - only a bit more white :). She also steps up without fail, even if she doesn’t want to lol.

Looks like you cheated and caught Screamer when she was asleep! LOL! Yes, she does look a lot like Woody. Not sure I ever mentioned this but there is a reason she has a boys name. We got Woody and Dacey- ( the hen that passed away after giving us our first clutch! ) at the same time from a breeder in south Texas. This lady (breeder) pulled a fast one on us. We thought we were just going after Dacey to pick up and knew she was a female. It's almost like this lady knew I couldn't resist and showed up to meet us with Woody too! She assured us the bird was a male! Well guess what? I'll have to admit, we did get a good deal on two birds and ironically they BOTH gave us babies via the daddy Kiwi! :D

She’s soooooo cute!

This one IS for Noodles.....I was reading a fairly recent issue of the national cockatiel society magazine last night and noticed an add. It seems there is a Cockatiel on line that has his own website! It's called "Ask Noodles" ANY kin to you?

THE BIG CHEESE! Definitely the alpha male to all 12 other tiels. THIS is Kiwi. He is now a little over three years old and has fathered 8 other birds. He was in a good enough mood today to turn sideways in the second picture and give us a mug shot! :D

A SAD DAY FOR THE Tx. Tiels: Due to a very sudden illness, we lost Boo at 3:10am Saturday morning! He was the second oldest male that looked most like his dad Kiwi. Had he made it to Halloween, he would have been a year old! According to our friend and bird vet, he caught that dreaded respiratory illness which is fairly common for teils! This apparently comes on SO fast that by the time they start showing symptoms, there's little if anything you can do for them. He went to the vet in less than 24 hours after we found him feeling down and he confirmed what we already feared. An x-ray of his lungs showed a lot of build-up and and yet breathing treatments still didn't help. This is the SECOND bird we have lost to this so I can't STRESS ENOUGH to watch them as close as you can and CLEAN, clean, and clean! He will be buried in a little fenced in area beside his mother Dacey.
