I just went to Bed Bath and Beyond and changed everything out
Some people might think if they open a window and cook quickly their bird will be fine I can't wait until I'm able to move out , my brothers girlfriend insist on using the Teflon pans because she's to lazy to use a normal pan that it might stick to, it drives me crazy. We also have a self cleaning oven which isn't good for parrots. I'm the only one in my house who takes these dangers seriously so I have to keep Rosie locked up in my room upstairs with the window open unless no one is home or take her out placesI just don't understand why someone who'd been warned of the dangers of Teflon would just ignore the warnings. I suppose it's hard for many people to appreciate just how much more sensitive to pollutants a bird's respiratory system is than a mammal's, until they see it for themselves.
that is so sad. it is even worse that the owner heard warning but just ignored them. it is good i heard that warning before i got my bird(still havent got him/her). i am currently informing my mom that she needs to replace almost ALL of her cookware and she isnt very happy lol. they are pretty old anyways. and for something that is supposed to be non stick, they stick more than you would think. so over time before i get my bird mine will all be replaced thank god anyone know the best replacment. im looking for:
doesnt stick a lot
not heavy
somewhat cheap to buy
bird safe of course....
sorry to tun the thread onto me but....didnt think i should start a whole new thread on this. sorry!
If a cast iron pan or skillet is seasoned for meat, meat won't stick badly, but if you fry eggs in the same pan, it's a real stickler. It's better to keep separate cast iron for eggs and for meat.
