Where I live, Tau Gay (or "bean sprouts"http://oze.my/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/oze528.jpg) are incredibly common and cheap. I did some research, and apparently they're Mung Bean Sprouts, which is parrot-safe.

That's being said, I've two concerns:
  1. I know that sprouts are unsafe in certain conditions. Should I also be concerned about these sprouts? What can I do to prevent?
  2. Since these are grown and mostly not attached to the bean anymore, is there any nutritional value?

wash wash wash wash them

= the shop bought ones (from open containers) were the reason people here got sick (and so here they are grown/sprouted indoors, cleaned, UV-rayed and sometimes sealed in plastic etc now to prevent this)

Those sprouts are mostly water, so I would consider them snacks, not really food, but why not? As far as I know (which is not reall all that far,) people here use them as a cruncy filler in peoplefood, not because they are nutritionally interesting.

You probably know allready to stay away if they are somehow wrinkled or slushy looking- so not going there.
Superfresh = superfood;)

mehhhhhhh.....I would be very worried about what could inherently be in them (pesticides and bacteria)...I eat them...my bird is not allowed.

Thanks, guys! I'll keep them off his menu then :) No point risking, especially if they don't add much value to his diet.

Mung beans make great sprouts. I’m will actually be sprouting some tonight for Parker.

They look like mung beans which are safe to give birds except I'd be wary about giving them because they can be contaminated with listeria, salmonella, or e. coli.
