Anyone have senegals that are sedentary? I work from home with Tangie my moms Senegal on my knee/lap for like 3 or 4 hours in a sitting. He closes his eyes, fluffs up, preens himself and I scruff his head.

He seems happy but will he tell me if he's bored? I'm going to try to flight train in my house to get his wings moving.

My first Senegal Kelly would sit on my shoulder for hours. She was a very sweet and gentle bird. Very quiet. Did not play much. Just wanted to be with me or anyone else if I was not available. But one of the things that I learned too late that she was holding her poops while on me, which is not a good thing. I wasn't very experienced with birds when I adopted her out of a bad situation so I did not know it at the time. I don't know if that led to the health problems that took her away from me.

Sidney, my current Senegal, is a very independent bird. Night & day from Kelly. He spends little time on me preferring instead to get into anything he should not that he possibly can. Though he does have his times in the day when he winds down and will perch on me somewhere and preen. Lots of puffing. Lots of ruffling his feathers. Eventually half napping. But a half hour is probably all that I get out of him in that kind of mood then he is off wanting to explore and forage again.

That's so sad about Kelly. How did you find out that she was holding poops?

Luckily, Tangie poops on me constantly. I have designated Tangie jeans. lol. He also tears apart my belt loop when I work on my laptop.

It was later on sometime that I read that it was not a good thing for them to do it. I don't really recall where I learned it. I started reading and learning before I decided that I was interested in adopting another bird some years later.
