Sudden Submissive behavior from female budgie

I’ve had my budgie for 5 months now and everything has been going good. Within the first week I had her finger trained and she loved to get out of the cage and just look around.

However, as of yesterday, she no longer wants to stay on my finger and will jump off of it within a few minutes. Keep in mind she will jump onto it perfectly fine, just seems to get bored of it rather quickly. Is there a reason for that?

How old was she when you got her? If she was a baby, she is probably just growing up. Think baby human vs. teen.
Also- where are you located (roughly)? Yesterday was the 4th of July in the US, so if you are in the US that could also have to do with it.

You pretty much covered it when you said "bored". Birds are pretty energetic animals and sitting in one place isn't very entertaining. As a wild animal they fly large distances to search for food and spend the majority of the day doing so. As a pet the food is on tap so they don't have to go searching.

So what to do to burn off all that energy? They want to go explore, play chew, fly or get into some sort of mischief. Some parrots will want to stay with people and be a velcro bird others just want to be on the go. Smaller parrots such as budgies seem to be more likely to want to be on the go. Shorter attention span maybe?

I think you’re both right, the fourth was yesterday and I made a playlist for her of bird noises and rain and ocean noises she seems to love to calm her down, but she seems fine now. I like to whistle Zelda songs to her and she seems to love em because she just sits there and flutters her eyes and fluffs you when I do. Sadly I don’t have any idea how old she is because I got her from Petco because it’s my first bird. I know she’s old enough to have a colored cere.
