Sudden GCC death

We walked into a pet store on 07/15/12 and fell in love with a green cheek and today he died out of the blue. He was only 6 months old. He started vomiting at 9:30 this morning, we rushed him to the vet, they didn't think he would make it through the night....by 1:00pm he was dead. He had been fine up until to this morning!
We (myself, husband, and 10 year old daughter) are devastated that precious Kiwi is gone. He brought so much joy into our lives. All of us couldn't wait to get home every night just to be with him. We can't stop crying.
A necroscopy will be done tomorrow.
Has this ever happened to anyone else? And is you had a necroscopy done, what was the outcome?

It is indeed a shock, and a horrible day when a creature we love and tend for dies unexpectedly.

I am sorry for your loss. One never gets over it, and I too lost a GCC unexpectedly and disconcertingly.

I just lost my blue crown canure to sudden death. Found him this morning and he was still warm but dead on the bottom of the cage. Last night I found a non stick pot on the stove that we left by mistake, having started water for tea. I don't know if it was teflon poisoning, I never heard of it before, my sister in law found this site today, my children have never seen me like this, I am heart broken. I adopted him fifteen years ago as a feather plucked bird and he was absolutely wonderful once he got a good home, and he talked to me every morning, said gimme a kiss and i love you every time i woke up and entered the kitchen, and he was super affectionate and puffed up whenever i went to his cage and took him out, he loved to be held and he traveled with me everywhere, he knew his name, my name, and and spoke in sentences. I am sick at heart. I just can't bear it.
