Peanut is almost a year old and suddenly in the last week he has started to get aggressive towards me when my sister is in the same room. He comes over to me and will fiercely bite me, no normal strutting or hissing, just launches at me! When she is at work then he is as good as gold! He is still moulting which I thought may be the reason. He must be too young for puberty surely?

I love him to death and would never give him up but I dont want to be bitten every time my sister is around either! Anytime he bites he gets shut in his cage which he hates and I feel awful for him being cooped up

Sounds like he needs to learn some socializing skills. Can your sister handle him at all? Does Peanut know any behaviors that your sister can cue? Does your sister interact positively with Peanut at all by giving him things he enjoys or doing things with him that he likes?

The only problem is is that he want's his perceived mate to leave the area......he doesn't want your sister corrupting the relationship he thinks you & he have...in the wild, males will do the same to their mates or hens they might be courting, when interlopers get too close.....

Like Monica said, he needs some boundaries established and like she mentioned, getting visitors to interact with your little guy will help relieve that, but you will have to express your displeasure or it could get worse.....

Good luck.....

Well Im happy to report that Peanut is back to his old cuddly self. It appears that the cause was down to about a dozen new pin feathers coming in at the same time, mainly on his head and neck which would explain the terrible mood he was in for those few days.
