Ivy: Canary-winged Parakeet (Brotogeris versicolurus)
Ivy's 2 new tail feathers are just about grown in! But they are growing at a weird angle and *GASP* have slight stress bars?!!? How can this be happening??? :( We hang out every day for hours, she is eating Harrison's and fresh veggies, she seems so happy! The feathers are such a nice vibrant color, much better than the old ones (which she came to me with).

She is always launching herself off things to chase me but doesn't have flight feathers yet, and therefore lands really badly. Many of her other tail feathers are broken. Can stress bars be from that?

I just don't understand. I thought I was doing everything right.

Can you get us a picture? Stress bars are formed during the developmental stage , not after they are mature, or buy physical means.(breaking feathers)
