Beavis a Greenwinged Macaw
Since Beavis was so afraid of a perch or my hand, I decided to just pick him up from the top of the cage and set him on the floor. I thought he would hate me for doing that but surprisingly he was super cool about it. I got on the floor next to him and put my arm out to try again, without hesitation Beavis walked toward me and got on to my arm and then shoulder. I started walking around the house with him sat down on the couch, he started walking up and down my body and at the same time started trying to say some words. Some are just mumbling and some are pretty clear. My house is full of kids so obviously everybody were there watching him and laughing at all the things he did, he started to mimic them and laugh too. That just made my day! Now Beavis got even closer with me and he's like obsolutely in love with me, a lot of time when I'm laying on the couch he would put his head right next to my ear and start breathing really heavily and play with my ear. I don't know what that means ... Unfortunetly after he's back on his cage he will not get on my arm again so I would have to just pick him up myself whenever I want him on my arm or shoulder. Another problem is that he only likes and wouldn't let anybody else. Hopefully that will all change.
I'm new to big parrots but I talk to the previous owners wife and she says that from what she hears she's really surprised because beavis was never this close with even the real owner! So I think I'm doing good.

Thank you guys for all the help!

All sounds good so far.
Rather let Beavis come to you, in his own time. Obviously he felt comfortable and went ahead.
Let other family members spend time alone with Beavis as well. Try not to be in the same room, when they do.
Even if he is in his cage, they must talk, sing and interact with him. He must gain their trust.
Hopefully this will change, in the near future.

What we humans tend to forget is ........ birds need time.......

I take it he is clipped (which is probably a good idea, I just want to make sure and not assume). If so, is there a way for him to easily climb down from his cage to the floor or a nearby desk/table/counter to come to you?

If not this may help. He may not like stepping up when he is on top of his cage, so make sure there are other options for him.
