Loved the reading. are are going to start with me leaving him in a room with my husband and letting him start with stick training. Cant wait till we can move to pass the birdie!

I would have never known preventing a bite it better than working with it in a controlled environment. I figured getting the bites while desensitizing was the way to go. I will switch that up as well.

while we are on the subject of working with monster, how in the heck do you break this horrible habit of squawking over someone? i swear all i can do is yell lately because if i am talking he catches up and gets as loud as me so no one hears what i am saying if i am talking from another room. Its pretty funny, and wow is he good at it! but i'm sick and it hurts to yell...No if my husband or kids ask me something i just walk in and stand a foot from them to answer lol!

You do the opposite! You speak in a whisper! Then the bird has to get real quiet to hear what you are saying....

A macaw will win a game of who can be the loudest, every single time. And how much fun is it to play a game you always win?! And every time he wins, you reinforce the behavior... and so the cycle continues.

Screaming protocols, if it's screaming are already posted.

I was the one who rehabbed all the biters down at the rescue... because they did not bite me.

It was not a coincidence. And no whispering was really required. I had stitches in the fingers twice. Both macaws, both were my fault. And I'm not covered in scars from doing it. (I've seen people who are.)
