There has been a sighting of a spix macaw... sounds like good news

I love Spix macaws, they are so beautiful and so precious, it's heart breaking to know that now they are a captive population - that's all there is on the whole earth, 200 members.

And now this one.

THey are one of 3 blue macaw species. Blue and golds, Hyacinths and Spix.

So very true about the beauty. Sometimes in this world, there is nothing worse than being beautiful and precious, humans can be so very destructive to the things we find attractive.

Don't forget the lear's macaw. Very similar to hyacinth in appearance.
And the blue throat macaw, as well.

Ok, not entirely extinct in the wild, but Lonesome George couldn't save his species on his own either

So let me rephrase; untill this sighting the Spix is thought to have been extinct in the wild since approx 2000
