- Parrots
- 4 Cockatiels 2 males Chicken Little & Charlie, 2 Females Chiquita and Sweet pea. Yellow Sided Green Cheek Conure -Franklin and our now tame, rescued feral Pigeon - Belle.
So today....my son...who also rides my school bus, say's..."Hey Mom, Did you see that bird cage?" I said..."what? The yellow one?" He say's...No the tan one in that carport back there. I said...Hmmm...no...
When we drove back by at the end of the route, he pointed it out to me. I was like...DANG! That cage is a PERFECT upgrade for Sweet Pea. I wonder if it's out there because they want to get rid of it. (I have NO idea who lives here and figured it couldn't hurt to ask)
I stopped at the ATM...got some cash...cause...cash talks...sometimes...and on my way home I stopped in to see if they wanted to "get rid" of that cage.
As I walk up to the door, I see a cage in the window...then when I knocked on the door, I heard the birds and a dog all do their "Someone is at the door alarm call"
Then a woman comes to the door, slowly opens it...probably thinking...who the heck is showing up this time of the evening...She peeks her head out and I quickly asked about the cage...she chuckles said..."Oh, Noooo it's not for sale"..."DARNIT!! I said...well I figured it couldn't hurt to ask." and she opened the door wider and there in behind her was an African Grey...I immediately started drooling..."Awwww...you have an African Grey?!?!?!" She smiles..."Yep...and A Cockatoo"...and she gestures her hand his way...and I take a closer peek..."Awwww"...and she waves her hand toward the other cage and says "And an Indian ringneck" :32:
Super nice lady, we talked birds a good 15 minutes, I told her about my Franklin and his Walmart adventure in his new flightsuit, she got a good laugh and I quickly told her of my tiels and pigeon she hugged herself the way I do when I describe how much I love my birds and I said..."Well, bummer on the cage, but it sure is nice to know I'm not the only bird lover in town!
I didn't want to scare her by asking...but I SOOO want to go hang out over there for the day!
I've discovered a few bird enthusiasts in this little town...maybe I should start a bird club!
