Ciry, Kira - B&G
Hello! So my avian vet just recommended me to use Harrison's Hogh potency coarse pellets, I ordered a 0,4kg bag for my macaw to try it out. Problem is, that Ciry is used to soaked pellets - but with the harrinons, I just cannot find a good way to do it. With the old ones I just put them in water for ~30 minutes and they are nice and soft, but the harrison's just ends up like a mess, just the outside gets squashy and is just too much soft, and the inside is still hard as normal. I tried to put it in fridge over the night, and in the morning it looked like a mash... Does anyone else soak harrisons? How do you manage it?

THANKS !

I had the same problem as you, they just don't soak well. Instead I used a mister and got the outside wet when I was trying to convert Rosie to course(She hated it, but ended up loving fine)

Yeah like I said, the outside gets wet but the inside is still the same, and she wont eat that.

It just took time for Rosie to like them or how do you mean that she started liking them?

Could you maybe try steaming them? I'm not sure if that'll work any differently, but maybe something to consider?

I've been wondering this. Blue just doesn't seem to eat the dry pellets but she love dunking stuff. I might just give her 'Harrison's mash' see if she'll eat it like that.

What about making it into smaller chunks? Or crushing it into dust before adding water?

Would probably be better. I tried again this morning but ended up with gloup. So threw it away and she had dry.
