My family in Texas has no power from storm.
My family in Illinois is feeding some desperate wild birds.
Love the gorgeous blue jays!

Stunning pics of an epic Texas snowstorm! Kudos to your family for helping feed some hungry birds!!

Einstein parrot lives in Texas. Sent them an email hoping they are doing ok.
yesterdays live stream showed snow going sidewise .

Doesn't Tiredoldman live in Texsas?

Nothing like a old fashion winter storm as it feeds off the cold from the North and the moisture from the Gulf. Those who normally do not get the full brunt of winter are truly getting hammered.

And, already over taxed electrical grid and ice has effected thousands from Texas to the east coast. Hope your Texas family has a generator!

Great people seem to always step in when nature turns a blind eye. That is really kind of them to be feeding the wild birds.

Pictures are from when storm hit Illinois. From my family in Illinois.

As a florida girl, I miss watching snow.

Ah yes, thanks! Read the post too fast!!

Hmmm, sounds like your son has a typical case of being a bit stir-crazy. A common illness of the great white north when the combination of deep-cold, snow, and the monster virus requires staying home.

That storm rolled in here early evening last night and kept going east and was out of here by the start of the morning rush. Not a huge storm, but a solid 6" (155 mm) of light snow with some drifting.

Very cold morning, so the dig-out was slow due to needed breaks to warm-up. This afternoon was all bright Sunshine, which had Julio enjoying the Sun's light in a favorite windows.

Noted that the next storm is developing in Texas getting ready for another track to the Northeast.

It's great to see the kindness of people trying to provide for the wildlife. Makes me remember I have to keep my own little birdhouse more frequently stocked than I usually do.

The pictures and reporting on this are grim. It's likely only to get worse. I hope the vast majority of people affected won't deny the writing on the wall and prepare as best they can. Climate refugees will be more of a thing as variouos portions of the planet see-saw wildly up and down between boiling and freezing...

I'd imagine you're just happy not to have to be dealing with all of that right now, huh!

After several 'dry' (snow-less) years it seems like NYC was getting blanketed on and off these last two or so weeks. It would have been nice to have it around Christmas and New Year's. I'm looking forward to (a mild) Spring. . .:44:

We have lots of ice. Power in and out. We were literally frozen IN the house this AM and hubbs had to climb out a window with boiling water and a screwdriver to try and melt the door latch from the inside out. It took a while but did eventually work. We have more weather coming tonight. X.x

Wow iced in!! Stay warm !
My Aunt and cousins still no power in Texas!
They had to evacuate to a cousin who did hsve power. Come on Texas get it together!

With the vast number of individual homes without electrical power across the US and now for several day, and likely longer, this storm has us reevaluating our desire for 100% dependence on only alternative power. It has me seriously looking at switching from a supplemental portable generator to a stationary unit connected to our natural gas supply. Stay safe good friends!
