Derbyan Parakeet
My Derbyan parakeet has sneezing fits sometimes and often scratches near his nose/beak area. I thought it was normal but now I think he does it too often, especially after I found him with drool on his beak (a lot, I think, to the point it was kinda hanging off). Is this very concerning? I'm already looking for a vet (I'm in a pretty small town and I'm scared that the vet won't be able to accommodate parrots). From what I read it might be an infection and it would prove good for his health to put something in his water that will help with the infection, but I'm not sure what and how to measure the stuff:(

(Also the swing was just put in his cage and was made by my dad, can it be the cause of drooling? The metal toxic etc? And is it safe?)

Sorry for so many questions, but whoever answers will be my favourite person for my whole life🙏🙏🙏

I would seek avian vets specifically which can be tough in small towns

I also recommend an air purifier I got a baby Caique and they were Sneezy untill I did that

I never seen a parrot drool so I would seek emergency avian vets ASAP that doesn't seem normal

You clearly love your bird.
I'm glad you're here.
Yeah, I am a self-admitted paranoic and freaker-outer, but I say...
VET!

Some info...

Certified Avian Vets
If none are near you...
Avian Veterinarians
In my opinion, any of the vets listed here should be better than a regular vet.
International contacts, too.
If none are near you, maybe you could call and ask for a recommendation for somebody in your area.
And... sometimes, distant vets will offer brief thoughts or advice...
Or... sometimes I find a place to start just by Googling "avian veterinarian near ((your location))"
Or maybe a local breeder might help... again, maybe Google?
