Small cage vs. plastic carrier for transport

I am wondering if I should either use a small cage (it has a handle on top) with a blanket half covering it or a plastic carrier for transport from the breeder to my home. The cage is this one: PETCO Designer Scallop Top Parakeet Cage at PETCO Except mine is not stainless steel.
And the carrier is this one: PETCO Small Bird Carrier at PETCO But mine is curved instead of having a flat top.

I use a plastic "cat carrier" for River, similar to the one your posted.

I've used both a plastic carrier with a perch and cups inside like a cat carrier, and a small cage. My blue crowned seemed to like (or not like) them equally. Anything that takes him outside makes him happy.

I use a small cat carrier that my husband helped me to convert by drilling a hole just big enough on both sides to fit a perch through and then he put some kind of sealant on the outside so perch wont fall through . also put smaller perch the screw kind in through the holes of the carrier . It works really well and is much cheaper than one of those carriers you see made especially for birds .

I'll be getting that for my budgie's to move house in. Cat carriers are much cheaper than bird carriers. I'd be getting this one specifically as the holes are not big enough for a budgie to get through, but I transported my cockatoo in a normal cat carrier, and I'd do the same with Merlin as he'd be a tad too tubby to fit through the holes

MUCH cheaper than a bird carrier.

Thats actually more expensive than the bird carrier I got.
It was only $9.99 (or 6 euros), it was on sale because they were discontinuing that design

I use a modified cat carrier. I put a perch in it and added mesh to the door so Bob can't stick his head out.
