Should I release parrot to forest?

Hello all!
I am Abhijit from India

today i found a bird of parrot species.
Some crows are behind him so he came to my home for shelter so i rescued him.
I have one broken old love bird cage. i keep him in that cage.
now i am planning to keep him for 1 week and then release him as i don't like to keep birds in cage.
but the problem is should i release this parrot to forest?
it looks like that he is pet parrot of someone.
i don't know actual name but looks like he is parakeet.though i am not sure.
please guide me.
we have one bird sanctuary near to us in 45 minutes distance. so i can release him there?
i am asking in the sense that if he is pet parrot then will he be able to live on its own in forest? etc
i mean finding food, security etc?
also at the time of this posting its now apprx 4-6 hours i have him in cage but he is not eating anything.
i dont know anything about birds what to feed how to care etc.
guidance in that topic will be appreciated. for now i have given him some food including fruit, plant (which english name i dont know).

offtopic: i love & like parrots and birds but i feel guilty keeping them in cages.
I like to have parrot freely living with me, sitting on my shoulder. but i dont like to keep him in cage thats why i want to release him!

NO! Please do not release him! If he is a pet he will not survive in the wild. As you sad some crows were by him. They will easily kill him. Can you post a picture of him? I know you hate cages, but he needs to be in one for his safety.

Greycloud is very right, DO NOT release him!! Don't give him anything you are not sure of. Try to find his owners by puting up posters. Get a better cage for him! Honestly, in the wild he would not last 3 days!

You have the internet and that will go a long long way to finding this birds owner. Post photos and describe the bird. If you release yu will cause the death of this bird.

Thank you for looking after this parrot and asking questions about what is best for him/her. Like others have said do not release him. Do people look after the birds at the sanctuary? if yes can you give it to them to care for? He is probably not eating due to stress of being away from his home and being chased by crows. Even though the cage is small it'll provide a bit of protection for him, if you have a quiet area you can keep it the bird will feel a little safer and may start to eat. Just offer a variety of food - no avacado or rhubarb. Please let us know how things go

I concur with the above advise, if the bird was a pet it would have very little chance of survival in the wild, good luck to you and the bird in finding a solution.

But here comes another tragedy!

as i need to feed him by hand and take photo of him to post here and i want to handle him i took him out of the cage and i am such a stupid sit near windows and he fly away !!!
First he sit on the window grill and looked once at me and then flew away!
But when i try to feed him by hand he is not eating also there were still crows in the morning searching for him. i scared away the crows now there were no crows.
but he fly very good it looks like he wants to be free. he gone quickly!

I read some web site the parakeets are from here only i.e. southestern asia.
so i hope that it was not the pet parrot and will live in forest.

There is no need to apologize, you did what you could for the bird.
Never having owned a bird, it's not easy.
You will be blessed for at least trying to keep the bird safe, feeding him, and caring for him.
I pray the bird made a safe getaway, and hopefully managed to fly back from where it came from.
