While perusing Craigslist for a flight cage for my army of budgies I plan on accruing (mwa hahaha!!) jk..more like 4-6 tops. I found this little guy...

GREEN+YELLOW PARAKEET

GREEN+YELLOW PARAKEET

I have a seperate area to keep him that has seperate air and I would practice quarantine. But I figure why not? I have room for one more budgie.

Thoughts?

aww so sweet! I'd say go for it, as long as you plan to get a new bird checkup. Even the longest QT can hide a dormant disease.

I might have to wait a couple weeks for a checkup visit, but I'd definitely want to rule out illnesses before introducing any new birds to my current flock. I also remembered my MIL's friend was wanting to rehome their two budgies... So we'll see how this goes. Hubby is already aware of my budgie plan hehehe

He's beautiful! And looks like a potential breeder for cool color combo genetics! I say go for it :)

He is pretty cute!! I have a lone blue and white budgie, so my goal is to get her some friends :)

I think I would either get the pair from my MIL's friend or this guy, not all three at once :/

Why not get all three, Shirre? I wouldn't want to introduce a lone bird to a happy couple or threesome if I didn't have to. You could get the little green fellow and quarantine him for as long as it takes, then introduce him to befriend Quigley. If you want to house the other pair with Quigley and his friend, then they could all be put together into a new or renovated cage at the same time. That way, no one owns anything and they get to stake out their territories in one go. This system has never failed me with budgies or lovebirds - yet. LOL!

We still have our Pineapple living alone because she's just too big and aggro to put with the baby masks just yet (they're tiny). So, P'apple needs a friend and then all six birds need to go together into a 'new' cage setup. Hoping to avoid territorial disputes in this way, y'know?

Very good points, Trish. My plan was to get budgies, QT them, and then when it's safe and they've passed a check up then putting cages side by side so they can get used to each other's presence, and then everyone will go into the biggest flight cage I can get my hands on. So everyone would get introduced to the new community living at once lol. Because Quigley has been a lone budgie for so long I don't want to just stick another budgie in **her** cage.

But....my plan has a kink in it now. After driving the car last night, hubs says there's something wrong with it and I can't drive it till after he fixes it this weekend :( so I can't drive down to Salem to get the lil yellow guy.

*She's* a pretty little budgie! :)

Doesn't hurt to contact the person!

Monica-

I'm not sure why I was calling her a he...now that you've pointed it out she is a she!!! Haha

I haven't emailed them yet because my car still needs to be fixed. :( so my budgie plan is on hold for now....

I decided to stop buying budgies... cause people kept giving me budgies! (and other birds)

I no longer have budgies, but the last 5 I rehomed were all females.... shame cause if I had any budgies I'd be happy to share! :D

Generally speaking, they say it's better to have more males than females, but my female flock did just fine together.

I wish you had budgies to share! Lol. Quigley is lonely and it breaks my heart...

what I need to do is ask my MIL tomorrow if her friend still has that pair and if she'd drop them off lol I don't know their genders, but I'll keep that tidbit of info in mind :)
