Ava hates me I'm afraid. Whenever I offer her my finger to step up on, she bites me and uses the tip of her beak. She only does it to me, not my boyfriend....sigh

You need to gain her trust. She is only 3 months old. Start by not asking anything from her. Just sitting and reading to her, playing with her toys in your hands, pretending you are eating yummy treats and making happy noises. Start then to offer her a very favorite treat that only you will use during these training sessions. Baby steps and patience are needed. Do not ask her to step up or try and scritch her. Let her do the asking as she begins to trust you.

Our TAG took right up with me and my girls from day one. But for my husband and my boys , not so much. We have had him for almost 4 months now and he is finally warming up to them . Just this Morning Cosmo was in the floor playing with my boys , it was so cute . He would chase their toes and play with his little ball with them . He still does not really want them to touch him but at least he will play with them now.
At first he didn't even like them to walk by him .
It just takes time for them to get use to you . Just be patient and go slow and I am sure she will warm up to you : )

She liked me for the first 2 days and now she dislikes me. I talk sweet to her. I'm the one whocleans her food bowls, and feeds her. She preens my boyfriend to! I'm nice to her, idk what to do to build her trust when I didn't do anything to break it.

My CAG likes my brother and boyfriend A LOT and wants their attention badly, flirts with them, offers her head for them, and swings upside-down from her cage when they come into my room. I try to limit their contact with her so that she knows I am her care taker and that I spend the most time with her so that she is my bird and not theirs. I made my brother be the one who got her in the pet carrier to go to the vets so I can be associated with only good things....hahaha.

I think it's just going to take more time and patience which is easier said than done. I figured I wasn't going to handle my CAG for several months and in just a few days of having her here I was daydreaming of taking her out and handling her, and then in 3 weeks she stepped up onto my boyfriends arm. I was SO jealous!

It might help too if you can wheel her cage into the room you are in the most if it's different than where she is right now too.

Best wishes!

whenever i read the forums, seems like a female cag/tag gets attached to males and the males gets attached to the females. or are these coincidences?

I'd like to know this too. Am I gonna have to fight my hubby for bird lovins??? :62:
Just kidding. But I don't want the birdy fightin me for hubby lovins. I would like the bird to love both of us, and me slightly more since I'm going to be doing most of the feeding and cleaning!

I agree , It seems that The male birds seem to prefer female humans and female birds prefer male humans. That's how it is with our two anyway .my Female GCC loves all of us but REALLY , REALLY loves my 3 boys , while my male TAG prefers me and my daughters. I found it to true with our dogs too. the female dogs adore my husband and the male dog adored me .

Interestingly enough our male CAG, appears to prefer me over my wife and our female dog who loves me to pieces can be pulled away from anyone in my family by my wife with just a simple word or two.
