well yesturday we went and picked up that severe macaw that icywolf posted about last week. came with the cage, and it sure is a huge cage. it was very filthy we stopped at the cash wash and hosed it off good on the way home it came out very nice. the bird is settling in just fine. he does do some talking, he says hello so well you can not tell it is not my wife talking. i think he is a littler under weight they told me he was on a seed diet from the guy they got it from. he is taking to pellets very well.

i cann't thank icywolf enough for help in getting this bird

I've been wanting a severe macaw myself. I hear the pack everything the big ones do, just in a smaller package.

I'm so glad you got him! Sorry to hear his cage was so nasty, I know she was having problems making arrangements with his previous owner to pick up his cage so they were keeping him in a different one. She told me the one the sennie came in was so nasty that she didn't even want to attempt to salvage it and got him a new cage. She's pretty new to parronting, I know she had a p'let but ended up having her mom take him because her kids were just a little too young and rough to be around such a tiny bird. She had been wanting a grey for awhile and now that her kids are a little older she took the plunge, although I don't know that she would have if the conditions of these birds weren't so horrendous. She's been calling me and coming over a lot though, I've been trying to give her as much advice as I can and she seemed to have gotten them all off to a good start, eating pellets and fresh foods and such. Please keep us updated, I would love to see some more pictures, do you know if you are keeping his name or changing it?

I'm so glad he got a good home! Post some pictures when you get a chance. :)

How exciting : ) Glad you took him in. Agree with others...would love to see some pics!

AHH I know how you feel. My Elmo (Hahns Macaw)was adopted.

It will take time and he will come around more. I think for us we just had to understand each other.

I am very grateful to the rescue-- it doesn't matter the past he's mine now !!!

I Wish you all the luck and congratulations
