Mango seems to love to go wild, lunge, dart, grab, pull occasionally when we play. He'll occasionally also grab my finger, but not intentionally. He goes to grab what I'm going after at the same time. :) Wondering of this may progress into something more sinister? He loves to play soccer with me whenever he gets like this.
Sometimes when he plays with a straw ,i move it fast around him as he darts to try and grab it. Seems to genuinely enjoy this.

Of course, we need video evidence to assess this adorable......erm I mean "roughhousing" behavior:D:D:D

Kiwi likes to roughhouse with my husband. I think it's a male thing (the birds). It's in their nature (just like human males;)). As long as it isn't creating actual aggression, it's a fun way to play with him IMO. Just be sure you are careful not to accidentally injure Mango;)

We've been rough-housing with Zephyr for a year, and he hasn't become aggressive. He loves, loves, loves to have his beak shaken (gently) and he lunges and grabs our fingers and shakes them. He's very gentle though, he's never hurt me when he does it.

The only bird I DON'T rough house with are my zons, just because they get too wound up when they start to play...

None of my birds are aggressive because of it. In fact, the macs will fall over into a pile on your lap playing rough with you...

Maya my B&G loves to rough house also. If she is on the bed, she will roll over and grab my finger and shake and stuff. loves to foot me. Ill shake my fist and say "You want a knuckle sandwich??" in a George Bailey (James Stuart - It's a wonderful life) Type voice.

BUT Sometimes she gets too rough and I just walk away for like 30 seconds. She's nice after that. But it's my own fault for getting her roughed up ^^

Mango likes the beak thing too. I'm in the process of trying to get him to lay on his back. He'll do it, but really isn't all that comfortable with it yet. Just about every day he comes over to me and stares at me, as if to say," are you ready, comm'on dad lets play!" Definitely not a typical Ekki from what I've read! This guy is a real clown!

Bixby's a big fan of roughhousing, as well. He loves playing "Eat Your Face!" (He wrestles with my hand as it attempts to engulf his head.) and "Finger Boxing!" (He attempts to catch my finger before I can lightly tap him with it.)

Not yet sure how Maya feels about roughhousing, but I'm sure she'll let me know if it's something she'd like.

Around here we call that "THE CLAW" and it's one of Sweepea's all time favorite games.

I use two fingers for the other game. Like a pincher coming for the beak, and if I get it, I hold on for a second and gently shake the head from side to side. Sometimes I beak the beak with my fingers, while she beaks my fingers with her beak...

I actually do the same game with just the macaws touching their beaks with the tip of my nose. (Occasionally with Tusk, but he's not as gentle when he really gets going.)
