Hi Everyone,
I'm new here, but not new to birds, however new to conures (only had cockatiels...and ducks hahaha) Anyway yesterday we rescued a 1.5 yr old cinnamon or pineapple conure. He is great, very friendly, but he was only fed sunflower seeds (the salted kind you buy in the grocery store for people) and raisins. He's loved the banana, the squash, the zucchini and spinach I've offered him and has been eating the seed mix (no sunflower seeds) I put in his bowl. I take him to the vet later this week. Right now though he seems very calm and quiet compared to the other conures I have met. I'm hoping it's the stress of the move. But I'm concerned it is the diet. The previous owner also smoked, so I'm working on replacing all of the toys as his cage came with him. Do you think that his lack of a healthy diet and being exposed to smoke did any long term damage to him? He is a bit small, and another other than being quiet, he seems ok.
I want this guy to live a long happy, healthy life.
