i have a cockatiel named 瓜子GUAZI(chinese for sunflower seed),recently want to rescue a cockatoo
since i got Blue home at Sep 16th. blue lives with me for a month and 7 days. last week i did the DNA test for blue. Check for the APV(Avian Polyoma Virus) and PBFD(Psittacine Beak & Feather Disease) and sexuality for her(found out Blue is a girl). and good news is blue has no APV and PBFD! yeah!

Blue now screams less and can play independently most of the times. thanks for all your useful advises and helps.

i prepare 7 days of fruits and vegs salad for blue every weekend. and thanks to Jersey Wendy's post of "Sprouting Made Easy". http://www.parrotforums.com/parrot-food-recipes-diet/57416-sprouting-made-easy.html
I use seeds to do one day sprouting and one week sprouting. Give her different kinds of sprouting every morning. found out Blue loves one day sprouting instead of one week sprouting.

i made some toys for blue. i posted one toy tutorial in our forum. if you are interested in DIY toys, you may try this one;), thanks to Flboy's advise to remind me not to use carabiner, squares and bells in the toys. you guys can try your own style without them.

and thanks to Kiwibird's advise that " to take blue to exciting public places and receiving attention from people". i took her out last weekend. she is afraid at the beginning, shaking a lot and looked terrified. (i guess she thought I'm taking her back to the coffee shop). but later she was happy and began to enjoy people's attention.

however, on the way home, she puked in my car. she seems little diarrhea when she got home. but all good in the next day. is that a carsickness? or other reason? please tell me and give me some tips.

that's all for today, love you guys!

What wonderful news! Blue is clearly much happier and healthier living with you!

What a wonderful update! She is a beauty and nice to hear she is absent some awful diseases. Blue is going to thrive with you!!

Don't have any advice for puking in car, other than keep her calm and the temperature comfortable.

She is looking great! Do you freeze the veggies? I would be worried about keeping cut fruit/veg for that long after having touched it (even with clean hands). It looks great!!! I am just thinking about yeast possibilities etc.

Birds can get car-sick!!! You can try playing around with window positioning (looking out vs not). he diarrhea was probably stress related.
Mine doesn't, but many do.
I wouldn't take her out without a harness though!!! Beautiful and sweet as she is, birds with clipped wings can still fly (given the right wind and a startle etc)
