Remember Daily Affirmations?

For the past couple months Buzz has been waking my son up in the morning. He toddles down the hall to his bedroom and climbs on the foot of his bed and talks to him until he wakes up. To get to the bedroom he passes a large mirror and my sons crate of basket balls.

This week my son has been gone more than normal. I let Buzz out of his cage to spend time with me. He has to go check the bedroom for my son before he will come back out to the front room. Yesterday he didn't come back out so I went and found him sitting on the crate talking to himself in the mirror. Today he was content to sit there for an hour chatting to himself. We have no knowledge if he has been around mirrors, he doesn't have one in his cage.

So after I found him I was reminded of of the SNL skit of Daily Affirmations with Stuart Smally. I could just imagine him saying "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough and people like me."

I'm guessing this is a pretty normal first encounter with a mirror.

lol that's hysterical, he looks like he's checking himself out. Whenever Gracie sees herself in a mirror or any reflective surface she immediately tests out the other bird with repetitive beak bangs. Actually any surface at all qualifies for beak bangs.

I tend to get woken up with very soft yoo-hoo's.. If I don't respond within her very generous time allotment of 15-20 seconds she follows up with the I-phone alarm sound... on repeat when I approach her cage I'm then greeted with soft clicking sounds or a coy good morning as if that horrendous noise hadn't just come out of her beak a few seconds earlier.

Our Gracie wakes us up the very same way, Yoo Hoo...everyday the same ole wake up I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Ah yes..mirrors..I have a large full length mirror behind my bedroom door..and every so often,when Smokes was out and about, I would hear chatter and yelling coming from my bedroom,only to find Smokey behind the door,talking to that "other bird" sometimes giving her hell other times kissys lol.
I picked up one of those stainless steel mirrors to hang in her house and she just loved it. sometimes at night I'd find her tucking the mirror under one of her arms
Get one for Buzz..he'll thank you for it!

i love the yoo-hooo's too! Must be a Gracie thing

Oh man Gracie is sooo self obsessed now I'd be worried if I gave her a mirror all of her own I'd never see her again she'd be full on diva heaven lol She does love to wolf whistle at herself
