"Real" parrot-lover friends

Jeanne, John, Chris, Ian, Shelly and her husband....then my mother of course and a few other people with the rescue. I guess you meet all the other crazy bird people when you volunteer with a rescue:D

Show-off! [emoji14] Hahaha!

Some basic pet ownership demographics from year 2012 in the U.S. helps explain the dilemma: https://www.avma.org/KB/Resources/Statistics/Pages/Market-research-statistics-US-pet-ownership.aspx
36.5% of households had dogs, 30.4% kept cats, just 3.1% enjoyed the ideal companion, a bird!

Our Australian friends are considerably more evolved: http://223.27.22.40/~sh10135/wp-con...hip-in-Australia-2013-Summary-report-2013.pdf
In 2013, 39% owned a dog, roughly 28% lived with a cat, and approximately 13% of households had a bird!

We're exceptionally lucky to have a friend that not only has a house full of assorted parrot-species birds, but is a recognized authority on them in our area.

Whenever we have a problem (like...today - we have an elderly female Lovie who is going through "eggopause" - we're doing all we can for her and at this point, she seems to be improving a little), she's always there to help. We also bird-sit for each other during holidays etc. She's going away next weekend, and we'll have all of her flock here, as well as our own (we'll have upwards of 20 birds here to look after!). The hard part is moving 8 or 10 large cages....

No, but I would love to meet some fellow parrot owners in real life!
OP - noticed your location is Chicago...

Perhaps we can get a group started over here! Mid-week lunch meetup at Windy City Parrot? LOL :)

Can you imagine - the Windy City Parrots are 10 min walk from the church where I work, but I have never been there because they work so short hours and are closed on weekends. I would love to meet somewhere!
I hope to attend the Rolling Meadows bird fair this weekend if my hubby is okay with that (it's his birthday). He loves our birds, and our tiel and lsat IRN addition was actually his initiative. I wonder if anybody here is going? :)

Unfortunately, I have to work all weekend, so have to miss the bird fair. :( Perhaps we can do a meet up, though! I'd love to actually meet some more bird people around here!

I had never had them until I moved to Hawaii, now I have several! They even have a parrot. Club here :)

Okay, I guess I have to start volunteer at a local parrot rescue! :D I applied in spring, but it didn't work out timewise. I try again - was thinking about that for a while already.
