So about 6 months ago, i took a Goffin Cockatoo from a home that had over 100 cats in it. The owner passed away after a long struggle with an illness, and the family decided they couldnt care for the birds or cats
(1 Sun Conure, 1 Goffins Cockatoo, 100+ cats)

I took the Goffins and worked with him for about a month and a half before i found a home for him. He was plucked bare, not even down feathers on his whole body, the only place he had feathers was his head. he was sickly and on a very poor sunflower seed diet. The Sun Conure was in better shape, most of her feathers except chest, not as sickly, but also on sunflower seeds only.

The Sun Conure, i kept and found a nice male for her. I even kept one of her babies (Chewbacca, there are pics of him on here)
The Goffins, I gave to my grandfather. (They fell in love immediately)

I just wanted to say how proud i am of Taki. He went from being a bare chicken, to having 90% of his feathers back. Not 1 bare spot. There are a few down spots, but i don't think those feathers will ever come back in.

I just had to post this because of how amazing it makes me feel to know that because of my effort, and that of his new best bud, he grew all his feathers bck from being completely bare to able to fly again.

I'm waiting patiently for some before photo's because my phone crashed and i lost everything from before, so i contacted the prev owner for some pics.

He looks AMAZING. See for yourselves!!

How wonderful! Taki looks very happy and it looks like he'll get all his feathers back:D You must've found the perfect home for him. Cockatoos are one of those birds who take the "right" kind of people, and theres not a whole lot of people with the cockatoo "gift" out there. Glad Taki ended up with cockatoo people!

ok, i was mistaken. It was over a year ago LOL. Time Flys. I did find a video of him the day i re homed him. His cage was disgusting.

This first video was after i had him 1.5 months. He gained down feathers in the time that i had him. This video was taken at his new owners home. (Video Filmed by my sister's ex boyfriend.)

:eek::eek: You weren't kidding! He looked like one of those battery hens you see in the PETA videos:( Poor baby. He looks SO much better now! That little "wings up" and side-to-side dancing must be a goffin thing. My dad's goffin does that too:) Only we go "WEEEEEE!" while raising our arms and Alfie goes "AAAAACCCCKKKKK!" as he raises his wings and crest lololol (he'll do it with himself sometimes, like he's asking you to come play with him:rolleyes:) And then you sing the cockatoo dance song and he'll start swaying:D

Goffins are cute, but WAY to loud for me and have a bite like a gila monster:eek:

WOW how wonderful!!! I have some plucked birds that stopped plucking [but their feathers wont grow back.]

What a great save and success story, Tim!

I love Goffins and hope one day to accomplish such a rescue.

Thank you for helping to turn Taki's life around and for posting his success story. Amazing improvement. Cute little clown.

Yeah he is adorable. I totally fell in love with him, but cockatoos are just a little too noisy for my living arrangement. Otherwise he'd still be with me. Besides. If i kept all the rescues I've re-homed id have hundreds of birds in my home :x My hands are full with what i have already!

He is just too cute! Made me laugh out loud...literally. He's beautiful..with or without all his feathers! Great job!

Oh my gosh.. him yelling "Takiiiii!" and throwing his wings up in the air. I just busted a gut. Think I might have woken my son @.@

So, so, so cute. So glad he's got a good home now :)
