The cage for my soon-to-be-mine parrot arrived yesterday and I put it together and it looks great.

But our floor isn't the sturdiest and I noticed that when I walk past the cage, even softly, I can hear it rattling a little. Everything in the house shakes a bit when you walk, just most things don't make any noise when they do.

My question is, is this likely to bother my bird? I would hate for hir to get scared by the sound and then associate being scared with us.

Has anyone else had the same problem and managed to reduce the rattling?

Aha! I have exactly the same problem! My birds have gotten used to it (although it does wake them up whenever anyone has to get up at night to use the toilet). I was thinking you could put a bit of carpet under your cage, or perhaps use carpet pieces under the castors to muffle the effects a bit? Or thick felt pads? Do let us know if you find a solution won't you? :)

You could try castor cups if it has castors, or wobble wedges. If the cage is on a stand and it is rattling against the stand, you could try some strips or a sheet of foam on the cage supports, or some wobble wedges.

I had some rubber flooring squares, so I tried those, and it made a huge difference. It still makes a little noise, but I don't think it'd be enough to cause any trouble.

Thanks so much for the help.
