Rain just had a seizure

Where are you located? I have an excellent vet in Virginia that is totally worth the drive. It's called SEAVS, and they specialize in exotics!

So... all tests are clean so far. .xrays and such, show nodda....I'm not enthused. ..not at all

That could be good or bad news! Well, good in the sense that she's healthy.... bad in the sense that the cause may not have been discovered yet...

Any ideas on blood work? Supplements? Maybe medications?

Nothing...nor a dang thing...take her home and watch her...if she does it again. ..then we'll do something.

Rooting for you and Rain. I know how scary this must feel. Did the vet have any insight as to what caused the seizure? Could it have been fright? Or something physical?

Has Rain had anymore seizures? I hate it when the Vet or Doctor's for that matter don't take things seriously

Still no changes....she's normal...no seizures...and clings to me like a wet shirt... oh well...gotta love the baby girl...lol

My cockatiel gets seizures from time to time. In fact her first one was at the Vets as i was paying the bill.

All you can do is comfort the bird and keep them relaxed as possible. If it helps any there aren't any cases of birds dying from seizures.

I don't know about birds, but I read somewhere that small seizures in humans are not uncommon and most of the time don't require treatment, just a knowledge of what triggers a person. I can't do flashing lights or strobe lights but no food triggers me. I wish we had more info on bird brains, but we've hardly began to touch human brains. I guess take into consideration what might have triggered it that you can control.

Here's a pic of Rain..finally LOL..if.it posts.

It looks like it didn't post. I just read this thread for the first time. Glad to hear Rain is doing well since the seizure. We went through this for the one and only time a few months ago so I know how scary it felt for me. I cant't know for sure that he never had a seizure before that in his 32 years on Earth, but I never saw any. He was put on anti-seizure med after that, but getting it into him was very stressful due to toweling and syringing multiple times a day. Anyhow, i stopped it after a short time, and he has been fine. I hope that was A one and only for sweet Rain.
