Question about budgies and cocktails

Where I live a lot of people keep budgies and cocktails together in a small cage. My question would be would it be suitable to keep them together in a flight cage.

Hi! As a general rule, it’s not safe to put different species in the same cage, mostly because of the size differences. If the flight cage it large enough it could work, but I would still remain cautious, as cockatiels are much larger than budgies. I would just watch them very closely.
Have a lovely day!!

The flight cage is 170 pounds and quite large it looks pretty big. I've seen people keep them together in abusively small cages and they didn't fight but everyone's experience is different. I will try it if it doesn't work out I'll keep them alone. I really wanted a cockateil but got put of cause of dust so got budgies instead but they shed dust and I have to clean and hover every other day so I thought how much more dusty can it really get if I stay onto of it. U have a lovely day also.

Cockatiels and budgies hang out together in the wild is my understanding, plus both species are super ultra social and generally good natured. That said they are all individuals and yours may not get along. In my experience budgies tend to LOVE cockatiels, and tiels are annoyed by budgies. This can take the form of the budgies keeping the tiel away from food and water in the cage fyi.

I have never house tiels and budgies together, but I have bmhave both tiels and budgies for quite a while. The good news is they can almost certainly share a household, but sharing a cage may be not a good idea. Just because you see others doing it does not mean it is best practice... you see a lot of leopard geckos housed on sand when a great large number of leopard geckos die each year from sand ingestion. The "reptile safe calcium sand" is even worse. Encourages them to nibble and it turns to cement in their guts. Plenty of people do things without being fully informed.

If it manages to work out would I put both budgie and cockateil seed mix in or just one.

I honestly don't feed tiel seed. They both eat pretty much the same things in the wild, and budgie seed is much healthier for them. Most of the difference between the two diets is tiel seed has sunflower, safflower, and sometimes things like buckwheat. Sunflower should be reserved as a treat due to its high fat content.

Do u think 1.5cm or 0.6" is to big cause I found a really nice cage but the bar spacing is 1.5cm.
