Puck is sick :-(

Roxy, you'd be surprised that even the wild ones will accept when they're sick. I had my doubts years ago getting my wild ones to accept but they did just fine. And after meds I made high protein mixture to give them and they even accept me tube feeding them.

Yeah this is a bird who wants to drink out of the nozzle if I give him a spray shower, and who wants to put this beak into the blow dryer, but you should see what happens when he sees a syringe. I've been trying to bribe them with fruit juice and hand feeding formula to get them used to syringes, but so far haven't had much luck. And Merlin goes so slow it would take me 4 hours to get her meds in her. Even the vet was laughing at it.

Sometimes whem I've had to give meds from a syringe, I've mixed it with a little grape juice. That tastes good, and has been often accepted. Try any sweet juice. Just a little.

I'm sorry to hear about Puck !
I hope he continues to show improvement.

You do need your sleep though Remy . I hope you can get some rest soon.

Puck and I lazed around today. He was hyper this morning but calmed down evenually, possibly because I was pretty lethargic. He's acting pretty normal now. Maybe not 100% yet,but to be honest we didn't do anything today, so he didn't get a lot of stimulation either. His poops are pretty normal and regular.

I think i'll start practicing with the syringe with him more. He really enjoyed taking juice from it to o

My cold is pretty persistant though! Yuck!

yes very glad to hear that Puck is doing better, hope you will be better too very soon:)

I'm also very glad to hear Puck is doing better. It's so scary when they are sick. I hope you feel better very soon as well.

Feel better Remy :)

Thank you everyone! Puck is back to normal now, and I'm going back to work tomorrow. He's back to being his normal fidgety, bitey, lovable self. Right now he is busy styling my mom's hair.

Does anybody know of a good avian probiotic? Are avian probiotics different than human probiotics? Does anybody know? I made a separate post about it.

That's so good to hear... I think natural yogurt is good for birds as well as humans...
